Mesh has been considered a typical accessory in swim trunks for many years. The netting is there to soak up sweat, stop sand, and act as a light shield to keep fabric away from your skin.
What's the Netting In Swim Trunks For
Swim trunks were originally made for people enjoying the shore, dealing with hot weather and sweat. The mesh inside is like a superhero—it keeps sweat from making the shorts stick to your skin. Plus, with all that sandy fun at the beach, the mesh helps keep sand out, making sure it doesn’t stay around for long—like a quick eviction for unwanted sand guests!
The mesh also provides support for sensitive areas, making traditional underwear unnecessary. It helps prevent discomfort when wet and offers protection during activities.
Benefit of the Mesh Lining
- Sand Barrier: The mesh acts as a barrier to keep sand out of the shorts, maintaining comfort and reducing skin irritation from sand particles.
- Sweat Absorption: The mesh not only blocks sand but also absorbs and wicks away sweat. This keeps the shorts dry, prevents them from sticking to the skin, and improves comfort during beach activities.
- Better Breathability: Its breathability is better than the nylon/polyester fabric used in underwear. The mesh design of the netting was originally intended to enhance airflow, providing greater comfort.
- Super Drainage: It quickly expels water that accumulates inside swim trunks while swimming.
Common Type Of Netting
The picture shows four common types of swim trunks. We’re using a popular pair from Amazon as a comparison.
In real orders, customers with different brand positions choose different types of inner mesh, with a price difference of around $0.3 USD between them.
The density of holes can be customized, and normally their composition is 100% polyester. If need more smoother and more comfortable settings, we can add spandex into it to achieve that.
What If Don't Like Netting?
For those who find netting uncomfortable, it can feel like a burden. And there are two solutions to it.
Cut Off Netting
If you don’t like the netting inside swim trunks, it’s easy to remove it.
Luckily, cutting out the netting won’t affect the swim trunks’ function. The netting is usually made from 100% polyester, which is quite easy to cut.
To remove the netting, use scissors to carefully cut along the seam where the netting is attached to the waistband. Just be careful not to damage the main fabric of the swim trunks.
Choose Different Type Inner
Since many people don’t like netting, some brands have started making swim trunks without it. This could be a good option for you.
Another popular design of swim trunks comes with a compression liner. This liner can replace underwear to some extent, giving you a different kind of comfort.
Another Type of Shorts
Trying another type of shorts as your costume for summer is also a good idea. You can consider board shorts and speedo-style swimwear.
